Www waterbouw nl

Introduction

Waterbouw.nl is the central portal of the O&O Fund Waterbouw, the social partners in the water construction sector. The platform informs employers and employees about collective agreements, pensions, training and labour market policy. Everything in one place, always up-to-date, managed completely independently by a small secretariat.

We have been building and managing the website since 2016.

The challenge

The O&O Fund for Hydraulic Engineering has a wide range of tasks. Unlocking collective labour agreement information for employers and employees, publishing news about the sector, showing training opportunities, sharing vacancies. All this information must be quickly findable for people who are entitled to it - from a manager who wants to know something about terms of employment to an employee who wants to understand his pension scheme.

The challenge was to build a platform that brings all those information flows together in an orderly fashion, that can be managed completely independently by a small secretariat and that grows with the organisation for years to come.

The solution

We built waterbouw.nl on Craft CMS with a comprehensive page block system. The secretariat can independently create sections, pages and subpages and build them with a wide variety of page blocks. One page is rich in content, images and downloads, another is sober and informative. Everything is possible without technical help.

CLA documents are published as PDF downloads via a clear download library. News, agenda items and vacancies are maintained and published independently.

For optimal loading speed, we work with Blitz, a static caching plugin that significantly improves the performance of Craft CMS websites. SEOmatic takes care of all technical SEO, from metadata to sitemaps and structured data. Freeform is the basis for all forms on the website. Sherlock continuously monitors the security of the installation.

Long-term collaboration

Waterbouw.nl is not a project we have delivered and let go of. We have been managing and developing the website since 2016. In those years, the website has undergone several redesigns and expansions, always in close consultation with the O&O Fund's secretariat and director.

That long-term involvement means we know the organisation well. We understand what the sector needs, who the users are and how the secretariat works. That makes each subsequent project faster and better.

Technical details

Craft CMS as the basis for content management. Tailwind CSS for the frontend. Blitz for static caching and maximum loading speed. SEOmatic for full technical SEO. Freeform as a forms engine. Sherlock for security monitoring. PDF download library for collective agreement documents and other publications.

The result

Waterbouw.nl is the central information point of the Dutch hydraulic engineering sector. The secretariat manages everything independently. News, collective labour agreement documents, agenda, vacancies and training information are continuously updated without technical intervention.

The website has been in position 1 in Google for "cao waterbouw" for years. This is no coincidence but the result of a technically strong platform, good content structure and years of consistent maintenance.

What this project taught us

The best customer relationships are not formed at delivery but afterwards. Waterbouw.nl is a great example of what is possible when an agency and an organisation really know each other. We think along, the client trusts our expertise and together we build a platform that gets better year after year.
