Introduction

Aramis Launch Stores is a collaboration between TotalEnergies and Shell aimed at realising the first two offshore CO₂ storage sites within the Aramis value chain. With financial support from the European Union Innovation Fund, this project contributes to large-scale decarbonisation. We developed a clear project website that serves as a central information point for stakeholders, customers and the general public.

Aramis Launch Stores are the first two offshore CO₂ storage sites under the North Sea - L4A and K14-FA-2. As the launch phase of the Aramis CCS project, these sites store large-scale industrial CO₂ in depleted gas fields, with a combined capacity of 5 million tonnes of CO₂ per year. The sites include the reuse of TotalEnergies' L4A platform and Shell's construction of a new K14-FA-2 platform. The project is supported by the European Union Innovation Fund and is expected to be operational in 2028.

We designed and built the website for Aramis Launch Stores, delivered in August 2025. The project came about in collaboration with Matzwart, who handled the client relationship and provided all the content, texts and imagery. We took care of the digital realisation; from concept and design to technical build.

The challenge

A CO₂ storage project communicates to several target groups at the same time. Technically informed parties such as grid operators, industrial customers and permit issuers want concrete information about storage capacity, technology and timeline. Political and public stakeholders want to understand how this project fits into European climate goals. Investors want confidence in the cooperation between the parties involved.

Aramis Launch Stores wanted a website that serves those different audiences simultaneously, technically correct and strategically compelling. A digital business card that does justice to the scale and complexity of a project that is literally being built under the North Sea.

The solution

We worked in this assignment as technical and visual realisation agency. Matzwart took care of the entire content: texts, images and content structure. We translated that into a working website that fits the scale and professionalism of the project.

The website is bilingual and targets an international audience of technical, political and industrial stakeholders. The structure is built around the core information this type of project needs: the partners involved, the technology behind CCS, the specific sites L4A and K14-FA-2, the timeline towards operational status in 2028 and the broader context within the Aramis CCS programme.

Technically, the website is built in Craft CMS with Tailwind CSS for the front-end styling. Content is managed through Craft CMS, allowing the team behind Aramis Launch Stores to independently publish updates as the project progresses.

Working with MatZwart

This type of project works well with a clear division of roles. MatZwart brought in the client relationship, drafted the content strategy and delivered all the content. We took care of the digital realisation, concept, design and technical build.

This division of roles allows each agency to focus on what it does well. MatZwart keeps the lines of communication with the client short and ensures quality content. We make sure that content ends up on a technically solid platform that grows with the project.

Technical details

Craft CMS as the basis for content management. Tailwind CSS for the front-end styling. Multilingual content structure. Fully responsive design for desktop, tablet and mobile. Future-proof architecture so that the platform can grow with the different phases of the project towards 2028.

The result

Since August 2025, the Aramis Launch Stores consortium has a website that properly represents the scale and importance of the project. The platform serves as a central portal for updates, technical specifications and news and is fully managed by the consortium.

As the project progresses towards its operational status in 2028, the content on the website grows with it. Milestones, technical developments and updates on the construction of the K14-FA-2 platform can be added independently without the need for development work with us.

What this project taught us

Not every project requires a complex web application. Aramis Launch Stores is a clear corporate project website without complicated functionality, which is exactly what the project needed. A calm, professional website that exudes the scale of the project without trying to impress with technical feats.

The value for the client was in the collaboration. A good partner on the content side like Matzwart allows us to focus entirely on design and technology. For the client, that delivers an integrated result where both agencies operate at their best.

Frequently asked questions

Aramis Launch Stores is the launch phase of the wider Aramis CCS programme. The first two offshore storage sites, L4A and K14-FA-2, make up the Launch Stores. By having its own website, this phase of the project can be clearly communicated to relevant audiences without blending into the broader Aramis story.

We agree on responsibilities at the beginning of the project. The content partner provides the content strategy, texts and images, graphics and video material. We take care of design and technical realisation. During the project, we keep in regular contact to align content and technology.

Through a comprehensive set of page blocks. Your team builds new pages by combining blocks, text, images, video, downloads, forms and more. Each block is fully designed according to the website's house style and automatically scales with it on desktop, tablet and mobile. No technical knowledge is required. Want to know more about page blocks? Check out our glossary page.
