Craft is gebouwd vanuit de developer-ervaring. Dat vertaalt zich direct naar kwaliteit voor de klant. Voor ons als bouwers is Craft CMS 5 een solide basis die stabiel blijft en tegelijkertijd continu wordt verbeterd zonder dat bestaande functionaliteit breekt.

Craft CMS 6 is in ontwikkeling en wordt een belangrijke mijlpaal voor het platform. De kern van Craft 6 is een fundamentele herarchitectuur waarbij Craft wordt omgebouwd tot een Laravel-applicatie. Dat betekent dat Craft vanaf versie 6 kan draaien als onderdeel van een bredere Laravel-applicatie, naast andere code.

Voor ontwikkelaars opent dat nieuwe mogelijkheden. Craft wordt daarmee geen standalone CMS meer maar een component dat kan worden toegevoegd aan bestaande Laravel-applicaties. Voor klanten betekent het dat de grens tussen een website en een volwaardige webapplicatie verder vervaagt — beide kunnen in één technische architectuur bestaan.

Craft Commerce 6 komt tegelijkertijd uit met authentication-based GraphQL queries wat de headless e-commerce mogelijkheden aanzienlijk versterkt.

Wij begonnen met Craft CMS in de tijd dat de meeste bureaus nog WordPress of typo3 gebruikten. De keuze was bewust. Voor het type klanten dat bij ons aanklopt — organisaties met eigen content, complexe structuren en langdurige digitale ambities — bood Craft van het begin af aan een betere basis.

Voor redacteuren is Craft rustiger en logischer in gebruik. De admin-omgeving is schoon, de velden zijn precies wat jij nodig hebt en er zijn geen plugins die elkaar overlappen of verwarring veroorzaken. Een nieuw teamlid kan zonder training binnen een uur zelfstandig content beheren.

Voor ontwikkelaars is Craft een platform dat jou niet in de weg zit. De contentstructuur is volledig aanpasbaar. Templates zijn in Twig geschreven, wat zowel krachtig als leesbaar is. Integraties met externe systemen via REST of GraphQL zijn eenvoudig te bouwen. En het platform is goed gedocumenteerd, zowel in de officiële documentatie als via de actieve community.

Headless implementaties — Craft als pure content-backend met een aparte frontend in React, Vue of Next.js. Voor projecten die maximale performance en interactiviteit vragen.

Craft Commerce — e-commerce functionaliteit binnen Craft zelf, ideaal voor organisaties die een webshop combineren met een informatieve website zoals bij CED Groep.

Craft CMS 5 krijgt twee jaar actieve support en onderhoud vanaf de initiële release, gevolgd door één jaar kritieke beveiligingsupdates. Dat betekent voor websites die nu worden opgeleverd in Craft CMS 5 dat je zeker bent van ondersteuning tot ver in 2027, en dat de overgang naar Craft 6 een bewuste keuze wordt die je zelf kunt plannen.
